A 4 cubic yard skip is the most commonly ordered domestic skip. Being approximately 7.5ft long , 5ft wide and 3.5ft high they are a suitable size to fit on most driveways.
An 8 cubic yard skip is commonly known as the builders skip and is a very popular skip size used within the construction industry.
This is one of our most commonly asked questions, please bear in mind there are restrictions as to what can go in a skip.

- Please note any asbestos or plasterboard found in a general waste skip will either be rejected for collection or if found once back at our waste transfer station, a sorting fee will automatically be charged as this waste cannot be mixed with other waste types as stated by the environment agency.
- We often get asked if mattresses, carpets, and sofas can go in a skip. The answer to this is yes but only in small quantities i.e. 1 to 3 mattresses and a roll or 2 of carpet is ok but we cannot accept full skips of carpets, mattresses or sofas at the normal mixed waste rate, you would have to be charged at a haulage and tonnage cost, please speak to our office for further information.
We accept a mixture of waste types into our general waste skips as the waste gets sorted back at our waste transfer station ready for the recycling process anyway. Unless you have requested a skip solely for one material ie rubble where a discount will be applied then a variety of waste types can go into one skip.
Please note if you are filling your skip with purely soil or rubble, an 8yd skips is the largest skip size available, otherwise the skip will be too heavy for our vehicles to lift.
Unfortunately, we do not guarantee specific time for deliveries or collections. Due to the nature of the work involving everyday traffic, it is not possible for us to guarantee times.
We can offer AM (7am-12pm) or PM (1pm-4pm) slots subject to availability.
For safe travel, all skips must be level-loaded with the sides of the container at all times. This is not only to ensure a safe load but also ensures efficiency for the driver. If the driver believes the load is not safe, he has every right to refuse collection. All of our vehicles have auto sheets (or skip nets) fitted so that the driver can secure the load within the skip. This ensures no loose items can fall out.
Please do not extend skip sides or ends with boards or doors to increase the containers capacity. This is not a safe load and will not be collected.
We require a minimum of 9ft width for all of our vehicles. Don’t have this width available? Check out our load and go service here, the perfect solution for those tight spaces.
A good thing to know is whether you have the skip for 1 or 7 days the cost will be the same. You are not charged by the hire period but for the waste disposal. For cash sale customers, our hire period is up to 14 days. We would advise on booking whether you would like 7- or 14-day hire so that a removal date can be pre-booked in. Should you finish with your skip prior to your pre booked collection date please use our ‘return a skip’ form to let is know your skip is ready to be collected. We will then try our best to collect sooner.
After the given allowance of 14 days, a rental charge of £40 plus the vat will be applied for each additional weeks hire.
All bookings must be made through the sales office by either telephone or alternatively by our online booking. Please do not try to place orders or give any information for collection dates to our drivers. You can book a skip online HERE
Our preferred method of payment is by card over the phone however we do accept cash and Bacs payment. Payment is required on booking or delivery. Unfortunately, we will not leave a skip unless payment has been received.
We hope that once you have used our service a couple of times you might consider using our online booking form.
We supply a guaranteed next day delivery service however in quieter months (winter) same day delivery may be available. We will automatically raise the removal of your skip for 7 or 14 days so there’s no need to call us to request collection. The only time you would need to call us, is if a skip needed to be collected on a certain date otherwise the removal will be raised, and we will aim to collect in 2-4 working days.
No, we do all the arranging for you. Please note we require 7 days’ notice in order for the permit to be approved by the council. If placing your order online please ensure you book your skip in 7 days later from the date of booking. * Note payment for skip permits are non-refundable*
If, for example, the council decline a skip permit to your area, or you require a skip urgently we do offer a “wait and load service”. This is where the driver drops the skip on the road and will wait for 30 minutes while you load the skip. This means that the skip is not left unattended at any point and therefore there is no need for a permit. Please contact us for further information.
